Dorn Method Therapy (DMT) originated in Germany around 40 years ago and is a gentle and safe way to correct misalignment’s of the Spinal Column, Pelvis and other joints, and in doing so helping to relieve many ailments, including:-
- Back and Neck pain / stiffness
Pelvis pain / stiffness
Shoulder pain / stiffness
Headaches / migraines
Tension in the jaw / earache / tinnitus
Dorn Method Therapy is as much about relieving existing pain and discomfort as it is a prevention against problems developing in the future.
For instance, Dorn Method Therapy is also great for ladies who may be planning to have a baby to help their spine and pelvis adapt well to the changes brought about by pregnancy and the demands on the body of carrying the baby afterwards; for those requiring sporting excellence; for teenagers/young adults to learn good posture and how to align their body from an early age helping to significantly reduce the potential for skeletal problems in the future.
For optimal results we recommend a course of 3 to 4 treatments, which would include:-
- Realign your spine, pelvis and joints
- Teach you exercises you will be required to complete on a daily basis, which take no longer than 5 minutes
- Demonstrate correct posture when walking, sitting and standing
- Show you specific stretching and breathing techniques to help improve your overall health and wellbeing
Gentle techniques are used to correct any imbalances in the spine and pelvis and any other joints, such as knees, ankles, wrists, fingers, shoulders as necessary. All corrections happen in a ‘dynamic’ way with you actually assisting us to generate muscle movement or ‘distraction’. This active participation helps joints to be brought back into their proper positions easily and effectively, without the need for strong force, making Dorn Method Therapy a very safe and gentle treatment.
This is the primary difference between a Dorn Method Therapy treatment and a chiropractic treatment, Dorn Method Therapy uses co-operation between client and practitioner, whereas a chiropractor uses passive movements to 'click' the joints back into place.
The other unique element of Dorn Method Therapy is that it is encompasses Self-Help requirements, which is the only way you will sustain any benefits in the long-term. Like anything in life you have to do a little each day to make big results, so just as you brush your teeth for at least 4 minutes each day to keep them in good condition, we also need to align our spine, pelvis and joints for at least 5 minutes a day if we want to stay fit, healthy and active.
